Professor Roy Batchelor

Roy Batchelor is Professor of Banking and Finance, and Director of the Executive MBA programme at Cass Business School, City, University of London; and a Fellow and Visiting Research Professor at the CESifo Institute in Munich.

After graduating from Glasgow University, Roy worked as a government scientist and economist, among other things modelling and forecasting streamflow data, and traffic through Britain’s ports; then at the UK National Institute of Economic and Social Research, forecasting and analyzing the UK economy, and writing on world trade and industrialization; and at a leading firm of London stockbrokers, where he tried to forecast company earnings and share prices.

Professor Batchelor’s research focuses on economic and financial forecasting, rationality and behavioural economics. He has published widely in these fields, and is active in consulting and training in forecasting methods and software. He has been Associate Editor of the International Journal of Forecasting, and is currently an Editor of the practitioner journal Foresight. He is an elected Fellow and Director of the International Institute of Forecasters.
